Emotion change WIP.

The character from the model rotation now appears in the flesh with an as yet incomplete emotion change animation. Ive mainly been pursuing artistic ventures recently with the focus strictly on portfolio rather than animation. At least it was until I realised just how darn good some people were before even leaving high school (notably, Kyler Spears, a current CalArts student who recently produced my favorite of the CalArts 48hr film competition with his short film 'duck').

(the blog has done something mighty weird with the colours, so ignore that)

Another late-night animation.

Graphic Novel.

So I recently received an email from Andrew Ahn, the admissions counsellor for the school of film and video at CalArts, in which he gave me some helpful tips on how to improve my portfolio. Understandably one of the things he mentioned was that my storyboards were unclear and that I should either do some more or even consider creating a few pages of a graphic novel due to its more visual style.
Armed with a new brush set shared by the PIXAR storyboard artist JP Vine I got to work experimenting with styles and ideas:

Now I just need a story...

Character Head Rotation.

Just a new character I've designed recently, expect to see an animation of him pretty soon.
